The Committee of Tribal Affairs (CoTU–Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi) has imposed a 48-hour economic blockade from the midnight of October 7 till October 9, alleging government indifference in resolving the abduction case of one Kamginlen Chongloi at Makhan Village near Indira Gandhi National Tribal University on October 2, 2025.
In a press communiqué issued this afternoon, the Committee stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs lacks security preparedness in the buffer zones. It added that a 48-hour ultimatum was served on October 4 to resolve the matter, but the government has remained indifferent.
The Committee said it was compelled to impose the economic blockade until their demand for adequate security preparedness in the buffer zones is fulfilled, ensuring the safety of commuters traveling between Kangpokpi and Churachandpur through Makhan and Leikhampokpi villages.
