Feb 26, 2025 : The COTU expressed concerns over the order issued by the State Level Coordinator of IOCL, P.K. Singh, who is also the Chief Secretary of Manipur, directing the immediate resumption of LPG gas cylinder supply from Sekmai Bottling to Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.
The Committee described the action as both unattainable and insensitive, particularly amidst ongoing tensions. The Committee, which supports the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur to restore law and order, highlighted that the security measures required for this supply chain further escalate the unresolved communal conflict between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities. They called for alternative methods of essential commodity supply that do not require security intervention, stressing that no such measures have been needed for transportation to Imphal valley districts thus far.
