COTU Speaks Against Union Home Minister’s Directives

March 3, 2025: With the Union Home Minister’s directive to end the conflict in Manipur, asking the state authority to facilitate movement on all roads starting from March 8, the Committee of Tribal Unity (COTU), as a last resort, decided to stand against the Union Home Minister’s directives, stating that they cannot allow the movement until their issue of separate administration is addressed.

The General Secretary, Lammilun Singsit, today, after the event of ‘22nd Remembrance Day’ held at Phaijang Village Cemetery, Sadar-Hill, Kangpokpi, stated that they shall not rest, nor surrender until ‘Separate Administration’ is achieved. They will carry out their path towards it, no matter the cost. “The fight for SA will be relentless; we will mobilize, protest, and resist by every democratic means,” he said.

The COTU leader also demanded that the Manipur Governor retract his statement against separate administration and stated that the Manipur Governor’s meeting with Arambai Tenggol does not determine their fate. The COTU also threatened that if any village volunteer is arrested, the concerned DC and SP should be held responsible for any untoward incidents.
