March 24, 2025: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint security team intercepted a couple in possession of nearly 25 kgs of ganja during a routine highway check in Senapati district.
The operation, conducted around 10:30 AM yesterday near Mt. Everest College along National Highway 2, involved the Senapati Police Special Operation Team, Senapati Women Police, D-78 CRPF, and B-109 CRPF Coy QRT.
The arrested individuals are identified as Kh. Zaheer Khan (21), son of Md. Islamuddin, and his wife, Mrs. Hepuni Doveinai (19), both residents of Golapati Mayai Leikai, Imphal East District. Authorities reported that the couple was carrying 24.69 kgs of ganja, which was immediately seized.
Following their arrest, they were handed over to the Senapati Police Station for further legal action.
