In the last 24 hours, another 7 new individuals have tested positive for Covid-19, making the total count 20 active cases since 1st June.
The latest cases include five from Imphal West, and one each from Kakching and Thoubal districts. A total of 82 samples have been tested so far this month. The cumulative discharge count remains at one, and no fatalities have been reported during this period. The number of active cases currently stands at 19, with 16 individuals under home isolation. One patient was discharged from home isolation in the past 24 hours.
Earlier, in the afternoon, following the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on preparedness, the Manipur Governor, AK Bhalla, chaired a high-level review meeting at Raj Bhawan, which was attended by Manipur Chief Secretary PK Singh along with senior officials and medical experts.
The Governor was briefed on the state’s readiness, including testing, ICU facilities, oxygen supply, essential drugs, and data monitoring systems. Emphasizing proactive planning and public awareness, he urged all departments to remain vigilant and strengthen response mechanisms to tackle any possible resurgence.
The Health Department has appealed to the public to maintain calm and strictly adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour, emphasizing that these steps are precautionary measures to ensure public health readiness and safety.
The State Health Directorate has already instituted 19 specialized committees to oversee the testing, control, and treatment measures in the state. The initiative is led by Director of Health Services, Dr. Chambo Gonmei, who serves as the Team Leader.
