Feb. 6, 2025: Thamnapokpi, a village in Imphal East district severely impacted by the ongoing crisis in Manipur that erupted on May 3, 2023, witnessed a remarkable effort to provide relief to its residents through a Free Health Camp.
The initiative was jointly organized by the United People’s Front (UPF), Youth Development Club, Thamnapokpi, and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Imphal East, at Thamnapokpi Keithel.
The ongoing violence and unrest in the state have left many communities, including Thamnapokpi, struggling with disrupted livelihoods, limited healthcare access, and heightened vulnerabilities.
UPF President Nongthombam Rupachandra emphasized that the health camp aimed to address these challenges, providing necessary medical aid and promoting health awareness amidst the turmoil.
Medical Officer Maibam Johnson from the CMO, Imphal East, led a team of doctors and medical staff, focusing on common yet critical health issues like hypertension and diabetes.
He stated that the camp sought to ensure timely medical intervention for vulnerable residents and address long-neglected health concerns exacerbated by the crisis.
The health camp provided services to over 100 individuals, offering free consultations, medicines, and health screenings.
Volunteers, including members of the Youth Development Club and meira paibis, worked tirelessly to ensure the camp’s success, reflecting the community’s resilience and solidarity.
