Feb 26, 2025 : In a community initiative, the 143 Battalion of the CRPF has successfully completed the construction of three water preservation tanks, each measuring 6x6x6 feet, as part of the Civic Action Programme for the year 2024-25.
The tanks were constructed in collaboration with IGP Manipur and Nagaland Sector, CRPF, and were officially handed over to the residents of Rengpang, Khongsang, and Nungba villages today.
The ceremonies were attended by local dignitaries and community leaders, including Sangillu Kamei, Women President of Rengpang; Gaithuingam Gangmei, RYDO Chib President; and Galhaklung Gangmei, Pater Rengpang Church at Rengpang village; ASI Roshan Rongmei, 2nd OC of Khongsang PS; Sh. Miuchampou Kamei, Secretary Khongsang Village; Smt. Ludiya Kamei, President, Women Society Khongsang; Bhri. Jonah Rongmei, Pater Catechist Church at Khongsang village; and Shri Namlalung Gangmei, MCS, SDO Nungba; Shri Namding Kamei, OC PS Nungba; Shri Gaibilung Kamei, Chairman Nungba; Shri Rakesh Ranjan, Project Manager KCCIL; officers, and fellow citizens at Nungba village.
Commandant Ravinder Sharma, 143 Bn CRPF, graced each occasion as Chief Guest and personally handed over the newly constructed water preservation tanks to the villagers.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Commandant Sharma emphasized that the Civic Action Programme aims to address local needs and foster strong bonds between CRPF and the public, thereby ensuring ongoing cooperation and support.
The residents of Rengpang, Khongsang, and Nungba expressed heartfelt gratitude to the 143 Bn CRPF for the construction of these essential water preservation tanks.
They highlighted that these tanks will provide clean water for drinking, cooking, and other domestic uses, significantly reducing the burden on women who traditionally travel long distances to fetch water.
