In a bid to empower Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) through sustainable support, looms and bicycles were distributed today at the Urup OBC Girls Hostel Relief Camp in Imphal East district.
The initiative was carried out under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Powergrid Corporation of India Limited, a Government of India enterprise, and facilitated by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East.
Sub-Divisional Officer of Keirao Bitra, Laishram Roshan Singh, handed over the items and highlighted the dual purpose of the initiative: livelihood generation through weaving and improved mobility for students residing in the camp. He also urged beneficiaries to make responsible use of the provided resources.
Sub-Deputy Collector Arambam Geetanjali was also present during the distribution programme.
