Cybercrime arrested 4 from Bengaluru threatening post against CM

15 Jan 2025: Four people have been arrested by Manipur Police Cybercrime dept for uploading offensive remark and threatening social media posts against Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

The arrest was made from RMZ NXT Building, Whitefield Road-Bengaluru, with assistance from Karnataka Police, on 9th of January and brought to Imphal.

The four arrested individuals have been identified as Thiyam Dharmendra Singh, Th Romen alias Naoba, Ningombam Dingku and Malemnganba Laithangbam alias Malem. After being produced before the judicial magistrate Imphal West, one Thiyam Dharmendra Singh has been remanded into judicial custody till 17 of Jan while the 3 others have been released on bail.

These four were said to be admins and moderators of one Facebook Page “Manipur News Group 2024” and police swung into action after the threatening viral post came to light, which was uploaded by a handle by the name “Punshi Minaigi” allegedly operated by Thiyam Dharmendra.

Police also seized mobile phones from Thiyam Dharmendra Singh, works at a private company in Bengaluru.
