DC Bishnupur Distributes Sewing Machines, Looms, and Solar Lamps to IDPs

Bishnupur, October 16, 2025:
In a move to support the livelihoods and education of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, distributed sewing machines, looms, and solar lamps at a ceremony held at Leimaram Mayai Leikai Community Hall today.

The event was organized by the 08 Battalion CRPF under the M&N Sector Civic Action Programme, benefitting a total of 110 IDPs residing in relief camps at Leimaram SC Girls Hostel, Waroiching, and Leimaram Government High School.

Addressing the beneficiaries, DC Elangbam encouraged them to utilize the sewing machines and looms to generate income, enhance their livelihoods, and produce quality textiles for the market. She emphasized the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurship and urged students to use the solar lamps to support their studies. She also assured the District Administration’s continued assistance in such initiatives.

Elangbam expressed gratitude to the CRPF for their collaboration, describing it as a meaningful step in aiding displaced families. Commandant of 08 Bn CRPF, Chandra Shekhar, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to community welfare and stated that more such initiatives are planned in the future.

The programme was attended by CRPF security officers, local officials, and the IDP community, highlighting the joint efforts of the administration and security forces in supporting vulnerable populations.
