DC Bishnupur Leads Preparations for 100-Day Campaign Against Child Marriage

In a proactive move to eliminate child marriage from the district, Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam convened a meeting with religious leaders and key stakeholders on Monday at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.

The session brought together representatives from the District Child Protection Unit, Child Social Welfare Officers, New Life Foundation, and faith leaders including priests and pastors. The discussion centered on strategies to intensify public awareness and community participation during the 100-day campaign scheduled from November 1, 2025, to January 26, 2026.

Addressing the gathering, DC Pooja Elangbam stressed that child marriage remains both unlawful and detrimental to children’s education, health, and overall development. She urged all sections of society to collaborate in ending the practice and to make Bishnupur a model district in child protection.

As part of the event, attendees took a collective pledge reaffirming their commitment to report cases and safeguard children’s rights. The upcoming campaign will be carried out by the New Life Foundation under the supervision of the District Administration.
