DC Bishnupur Visits Laisoi Relief Camp, Highlights Welfare Schemes for IDPs

July 22, 2025 (DIO): Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam visited the relief camp at Takmu Water Sports Complex, Laisoi, as part of ongoing outreach efforts. Accompanied by members of ETA Foundation, she interacted with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), addressing their concerns and highlighting key government welfare schemes.

She urged camp residents to utilise schemes related to education, healthcare, and resettlement. Special emphasis was placed on Mission Vatsalaya, CMHT, and PMJAY, with additional medical support promised through the Chief Medical Officer if required.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of timely registration on the IDP Manage Portal, warning that the portal will freeze after July, potentially blocking access to benefits. She advised submitting accurate and complete information to avoid future issues.

Camp residents shared their demands for educational, healthcare, and livelihood support, and expressed a strong desire to return home. Villagers of Laisoi also proposed developing their area into a sustainable tourism site, highlighting its natural beauty and potential.

The Deputy Commissioner assured continued government support to both the IDPs and Laisoi residents.
