In a major step towards modernizing rural financial institutions, Deputy Commissioner Jiribam, Krishna Kumar, IAS, today distributed essential hardware equipment to five Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) of Jiribam and Borobekra Sub-Division. The distribution programme, part of the Computerization of PACS initiative under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, was held at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Jiribam.
The equipment – including desktops, printers, biometric devices, UPS units, VPNs, tablets, and batteries – was handed over to Dibong GPL MPCS Ltd, Sorok Atingbi GPL MPCS Ltd, Sonapur GPL MPCS Ltd, Latingkhal GPL MPCS, and Borobekra-Jakuradhor GPL MPCS Ltd.
Speaking at the event, Krishna Kumar urged the societies to use the equipment judiciously to enhance transparency and efficiency in their functioning, ensuring maximum benefit to farmers and members.
The programme was jointly organized by the District Cooperative Officer and the District Administration, Jiribam, and attended by District Cooperative Officer Md. Nasir Khan, SDC/BO DC S. Sitaranjit Singh, and representatives of cooperative societies. The initiative is expected to significantly improve services provided to members of these credit societies.
