DC Jiribam Slams Slow Progress of JT Road Construction, Orders Urgent Action

Feb 28, 2025 : Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the slow progress of the Jiri-Tipaimukh (JT) Road construction, Deputy Commissioner Jiribam, Krishna Kumar, IAS, has directed PWD and the construction company to speed up the work before the monsoon arrives.

During an inspection of the 32-km stretch from Jiribam to Choudhurikhal, Borobekra, he reviewed the quality and compliance of the work as per the DPR. Accompanied by CO 156 Bn CRPF Omkar Nath, CO 20 Dett Bn CRPF Haopou Karowng, CO 38 Assam Rifles Prashant Chanduwat, SDO Jiribam and Borobekra Laishram Roshan, and other officials, he emphasized the urgent need for timely completion.

Beyond roadwork, he also assessed developmental projects, bailey bridges, and school infrastructure. During visits to Borobekra Higher Secondary School, Netaji Govt. High School, Jakuradhor, and Bhutangkhal Govt. Upper Primary School, he found a widespread shortage of teachers and staff, raising concerns over education quality.

Additionally, SDO Jiribam and Borobekra Laishram Roshan, along with SDC Sorokhaibam Sitaranjit, visited the Borobekra Relief Camp at Borobekra Police Station, interacting with internally displaced persons (IDPs) to address their grievances.
