DC Kamjong Unveils District Action Plan for Sardar@150 Commemoration Honouring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Kamjong, November 4: Deputy Commissioner Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter, briefed the media at the Camp Office in 2nd MR, Imphal, outlining the district’s preparations and activities for the nationwide Sardar@150 observance, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Addressing media representatives in the presence of the Superintendent of Police Kamjong, the ADC Kamjong, SDOs, and district-level officers, the DC highlighted that the commemoration is aimed at paying tribute to Sardar Patel’s exceptional role in unifying India and strengthening the foundations of the nation. He noted that the initiative also seeks to ignite patriotism, civic awareness, and responsibility among youth and communities across Kamjong.

“The objective of Sardar@150 is not only to honour the Iron Man of India but also to carry forward his ideals of unity, discipline, and service to the nation,” the DC said, stressing the importance of active public participation. He emphasised that the district administration is committed to mobilising students, youth groups, and the public to build a stronger, more cohesive society inspired by Sardar Patel’s values.

As part of the observance, Kamjong District Administration, in collaboration with MY Bharat and key government departments including ADC Ukhrul, ZEO, CMO, DPO, DYSO, and DIPR, will roll out multiple initiatives across the district. Planned activities include Unity Padyatras (Unity Runs), essay and quiz competitions, yoga and fitness sessions, community cleanliness drives, and de-addiction awareness programmes. These activities aim to promote national integration, good citizenship, and healthy lifestyles among residents.

The DC informed that schools, youth organisations, village authorities, and civil society groups will also be engaged to ensure wide participation. “Through these programmes, we aim to encourage the younger generation to follow the principles of unity, service, and dedication to nation-building,” he added.

The press briefing underscored the district’s commitment to making the Sardar@150 observance meaningful and participatory. Officials present reaffirmed support for the planned activities and urged community cooperation to ensure the successful execution of the initiatives in the coming weeks.
