DCPU Tengnoupal Conducts Legal Awareness Sessions for School and Community

St. Peter School hosted a one-day awareness programme on child protection and related laws on Monday, organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tengnoupal, under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur.

In a written message, District Child Protection Officer Phurailatpam Devavrata Sharma stressed that protecting children should not be “an occasional campaign” but a constant duty for parents, teachers, law enforcement, and the wider community.

Speakers included Darngam Khaling, Member Secretary of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Tengnoupal, on the Juvenile Justice Act; Woman Sub-Inspector Khulak Tothang Dangshawa on the POCSO Act and Child Marriage Prohibition Act; and CWC member Tontang Moishel on the Child Labour Act and anti-trafficking laws.

The programme opened with a prayer, welcome address, and keynote remarks, and concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments. The school’s principal and staff lauded the initiative as vital for safeguarding children’s rights and well-being.
