April 11, 2026 (IMP): With a full guard of honour, a wreath-laying ceremony was held, paying homage to the departed BSF jawan Mithun Mandal, who laid down his life in the line of duty yesterday, before the deceased jawan was sent to his native home from the airport.
The solemn ceremony was attended by Manipur CM Y Khemchand, along with Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh and other dignitaries on Thursday at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
Mention may be made here that the BSF jawan, Constable Mithun Mandal of 170/A Battalion deployed in Mongkot Chepu, was hit by a stray bullet yesterday around 4:50 PM near Litan Sariekhong area of Ukhrul district of Manipur. He was rushed to RIMS Hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries.
