Demands for ‘Popular Govt’ in Manipur Is Reflection of ‘People’s Will’: BJP MLA T. Robindro

Just a day after submitting a memo urging PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the installation of a popular government in Manipur, BJP MLA Tongbram Robindro broke his silence on Wednesday, stating that the people of Manipur desire a popular government, calling it a reflection of the public’s will. His comments came after he and 20 other legislators submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the formation of a government.

Robindro highlighted that civil society organizations and the general public in the state have consistently voiced their support for a representative government. He explained that the memorandum submitted by the group of MLAs was in response to these widespread public sentiments, the MLA stated while speaking to select media persons.

The MLA also asserted that the group of legislators has the necessary support to stake a claim to form a government.

While acknowledging the efforts of the current administration under Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in restoring peace and normalcy, the Thanga MLA emphasized that an elected government would be more effective in advancing the peace process and promoting development initiatives in the state.

In his remarks, Robindro also appealed to village volunteers, both from the hills and the valley, to surrender their arms to the appropriate authorities, further contributing to the peace-building efforts in Manipur.
