President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), K. Meghachandra, condemned the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur, characterizing it not as a mere procedural step but as a direct assault on democratic principles.
He emphasized that this move undermines the constitutional mandate and the democratic will of the people.
“The extension of President’s Rule in Manipur is a blatant disregard for democratic norms and an unjustifiable delay in reinstating elected governance,” declared Meghachandra
.
He highlighted the Congress party’s stance that Manipur urgently requires accountable and representative leadership, not prolonged bureaucratic oversight imposed from outside.
Stressing the urgent need to safeguard democratic values, the MPCC Chief called upon all democratic forces, civil society, and the people of Manipur to unite in defense of the Constitution and the fundamental right to self-governance.
