Imphal, April 9: In a strongly worded response, Deputy Chief Minister Loshi Dikho has condemned the brutal killing of two minor children at Tronglaobi on Tuesday early morning, terming it a “heinous and barbaric act” and demanding swift accountability.
At his official residence in Lamphel on Wednesday, Dikho said the incident has shaken the conscience of the state and raised serious questions over the intent behind targeting innocent civilians.
“I am extremely disheartened and feel sorry for this incident. I wonder who could have carried out such an act. What is the purpose of committing such a heinous crime against innocent children?” he said, while calling for exemplary punishment for those responsible.
Amid mounting outrage, Dikho asserted that security agencies have already launched intensified operations and disclosed that three persons have been arrested so far in connection with the attack. He indicated that further crackdowns are underway to dismantle those involved.
Highlighting the government’s approach, he maintained that since assuming office, the Khemchand-led administration has intensified outreach and peace initiatives across conflict-hit regions, including multiple visits to Jiribam and sustained engagement efforts.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s remarks come at a time when the latest attack has triggered widespread anger, further putting pressure on the government to deliver concrete results in restoring law and order.
