Deputy Commissioner Leads Patriots’ Day Homage in Senapati to Anglo-Manipur War Heroes

The District Administration of Senapati marked Patriots’ Day on August 13 with a solemn tribute to Thangal General and Bir Tikendrajit Singh, executed in 1891 during the Anglo-Manipur War. Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley led the homage at the DRDA Conference Hall, lighting candles and offering floral tributes before the portraits of the two martyrs.

During the programme, Ngaonii Panii, SDC Senapati, recounted the historical significance of the day, describing it as a reminder of the supreme sacrifices made for Manipur’s freedom and dignity. He urged attendees to take pride in their identity, uphold their responsibilities towards society, and look to the future with hope.

The event was attended by senior district officials, including the Superintendent of Police, Divisional Forest Officer, Chief Executive Officer of the Autonomous District Council, Sub-Divisional Officers, and other district-level staff.
