The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has alleged the Higher and Technical Education in Manipur is in a shamble condition and has sought answers from the state authority within a week’s time whether the state has rolled out the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its prescribed guidelines.
It also asked whether the state is going to implement the 4-year graduate course programme, for both BA and BSc, since no announcement has been made on the selection of colleges in Manipur for opening the course and which subject/stream is set to open for the said course.
The student body also said nearly 27,000 students have passed out this year’s 10+2 Exam and they are now put into confusion and dilemma on the choice of course to be made due to the impending implementation of NEP 2020.
The student body has said that if the state authority fails to give a clear-cut answer, then the student community in Manipur is all set to launch democratic forms of protest. It also said that Manipur University is also yet to provide a response on the status of opening the 4-year undergraduate BA/BSc course. This dearth of development in this area suggests that the directorate or state authority doesn’t want to open the course.
