Tension prevailed at the office of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM), at Babupara on Tuesday afternoon after volunteers of the Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) gathered and attempted to storm the office premises over alleged irregularities in the supply of examination answer sheets.
DESAM members assembled at the BOSEM office around 1 pm and tried to enter the premises as part of their protest.
However, security personnel prevented them from moving inside, using barricades to block the gate, leading to a brief standoff at the entrance.
DESAM alleged that certain firms have been supplying substandard and poor-quality answer sheets, raising serious concerns over the integrity of examination materials.
The student body demanded strict action against the suppliers involved.
Speaking on the spot, Mayengbam Somorjit Meitei, President of DESAM, warned that if the government fails to blacklist the firms responsible for the alleged low-quality supply, the organisation would intensify its agitation.
He cautioned that stronger forms of protest could be launched in the coming days.
DESAM stated that the issue directly affects students and the credibility of the examination system, and urged the authorities to take immediate corrective measures.
