Imphal: Jan 23 : A consultative workshop-cum-conference on “Viksit Bharat and National Education Policy 2020” was recently held at the Central Hall of DM College of Science, Manipur.
Organized jointly by the Centre for Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI), Manipur University, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Dhanamanjuri University, the event saw a significant gathering of academicians, policymakers, and students.
The conference highlighted the critical role of digital education in achieving the goals outlined in the National Education Policy 2020 and building a “Viksit Bharat,” including the challenges and opportunities in the northeastern context. Strategies to enhance digital literacy and ensure that no student is left behind in the digital age were also discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, former Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure, particularly in the northeastern states.
Citing a recent survey, he revealed that less than 45 percent of households in Manipur have access to the internet, a figure significantly lower compared to other northeastern states. He highlighted the need to bridge this digital divide to ensure equitable access to education and opportunities for all.
The workshop concluded with a strong call for concerted efforts to accelerate digital transformation in education and empower students with the necessary skills to thrive in the 21st century.
