Churachandpur, June 12: Director General Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera on Friday launched the inaugural KINEPNA magazine and e-magazine during a visit to the Assam Rifles Sector Headquarters in Churachandpur district, highlighting the force’s continued efforts towards women empowerment and community development.
Named after the word “Hope,” the KINEPNA initiative has transformed the lives of more than 100 tribal women by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. The programme provides access to weaving facilities, shuttle loom training, crochet work and dedicated production spaces, helping participants achieve financial independence while preserving traditional skills.
Recognising her role in the success of the initiative, the Director General presented a Commendation Card to Jessica H. Vaiphei, coordinator of KINEPNA.
Apart from inaugurating the publication, Lt Gen Lakhera reviewed the operational readiness of Assam Rifles units and interacted with personnel stationed in the district. He praised the force for its professionalism and resilience in maintaining peace and security across the region and emphasised the importance of remaining alert amid changing security conditions in Manipur.
The interaction also focused on personnel welfare, including updates on the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association subscription, scholarship schemes for meritorious students, the 8th Pay Commission and Agniveer recruitment. Personnel were cautioned against fraudulent recruitment activities and misinformation campaigns and were encouraged to prioritise both physical and mental well-being.
The Director General further briefed the force on the induction of new infantry weapons and informed personnel that new uniforms are expected to be issued by September 2026. He urged all ranks to uphold the proud legacy of the Assam Rifles and continue serving the nation with dedication and distinction.
