DGP Rajiv Singh Flags Off Bishnupur Girls Football Tournament 2025

Director General of Police Rajiv Singh inaugurated the Bishnupur Girls Football Tournament 2025 today at the Mini Secretariat Complex in Bishnupur.

The tournament is being organised by the 8th Battalion of the CRPF and the Bishnupur District Administration, in partnership with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Manipur Police, NHPC, and NHIDCL. Held under the theme “Sports for Peace and Development,” the event is part of the Khelo India initiative aimed at promoting youth participation and fostering community engagement through sports.

In his inaugural address, the DGP lauded the organisers for creating a platform to encourage girls in competitive sports and highlighted Manipur’s reputation as a sporting hub. He noted that the state has consistently produced national and international-level athletes across multiple disciplines, including the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.

He expressed confidence that the tournament would inspire upcoming players and help identify promising football talent. “Winning is important, but the true achievement lies in competing with commitment and learning from every game,” he said.

Acknowledging the support extended to players, Rajiv Singh thanked SAI and partner organisations for providing sports kits and incentives to all participants as part of the initiative.

Bishnupur Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam, speaking at the event, encouraged the young athletes to compete with discipline and sportsmanship. She emphasised that Manipur’s sporting success is rooted in dedication and resilience, and called on players to carry forward the legacy.

Senior CRPF officials, government representatives, and sports authorities attended the ceremony, including Raja Srivastava (SDG, Northeast Zone, CRPF), Rajendra Narayan Dash (IGP, M&N Sector, CRPF), Abhinav Sharma (Director, SAI), and Gursharan Singh (NHPC Manipur Project Head).
