DHS Pherzawl Observes World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, Promotes Public Awareness

Feb. 1, 2025: World Hospice and Palliative Care Day was observed by the District Health Society (DHS) Pherzawl at the Community Health Centre in Parbung today. The event was organised to highlight the crucial role of palliative care for individuals with terminal illnesses.

Zenngaihlun, District Program Manager of the National Health Mission, Pherzawl, led the event, which was attended by doctors, staff from CHC Parbung, caregivers, and other stakeholders. During the function, financial assistance was extended to caregivers of terminally ill patients in the district as part of the National Program on Palliative Care.

In a parallel effort, the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Cell of DHS Pherzawl organised an awareness drive in Lungthulien on Friday, educating the public about NCD risks and prevention. Additionally, training sessions were conducted for village authority members, ASHAs, and Anganwadi workers from Taithu and Damdiei villages.

These initiatives fall under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Stroke (NPCDCS) and the Jagrata Abhiyan Pakhwada, a nationwide campaign promoting public health awareness and community participation.
