Dialysis patients, backed by their family members, called for immediate government attention to ensure the continuation of the provision of health facilities by private hospitals in Manipur under the noble health schemes — CMHT (Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang) and PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana).
The patients, under the banner of the All Manipur Dialysis Patients’ Association (AMDPA), took to the streets in Imphal, demanding that the government clear the pending dues of the private institutes so the service facilities under the health schemes are not suspended by private hospitals. Earlier, due to non-payment of pending dues by the government, the private hospitals in the state had threatened to cease their services by November 6 under the said schemes.
The demonstration, which took off from Keisampat in Imphal and was heading towards the Raj Bhawan in the state capital, was halted by state police personnel halfway. The association, formed by dialysis patients, wants the government to resolve the issue to save the lives of patients relying on the government schemes.
