JAN 24, 2026 (IMP): Manipur has no dearth of helping hands and support for those in need, and on Saturday, the Diamond Donors rushed to extend financial support to a one-year-old child who became a victim of a bullet fired from an unknown location on New Year’s Eve in Imphal West’s Noremthong.
While speaking during the visit, Managing Director of Diamond TV and Wahong Radio, James Heigrujam, said that master Elangbam Thoithoiba (1) received the bullet injury while sleeping in a room of their rented house, after the bullet pierced the tin roof. Elangbam Thoithoiba, son of Elangbam Thoiba and Elangbam Lakhirani, originally hails from Jiribam District of Manipur. The family moved to Imphal after the ethnic conflict broke out in the state on May 3, 2023, and is now living in a rented house.
The injured child’s father is a daily wage earner, and the incident has plunged the family into severe hardship. Diamond Donors and the Diamond family came forward to provide financial assistance as a gesture of support and sympathy.
On behalf of Diamond Donors, Managing Director James Heigrujam also expressed gratitude to all those who contributed generously towards the assistance, including Emashi Sorojini, the Meitei Nongsa Team, Longjam Tombi, Senjam Sorobala from Australia, and many other well-wishers.
He also requested the public to extend help and support to families affected by such incidents, either by providing assistance or by standing with them during their time of sorrow. Several members also took part in the handing over of the financial assistance.
