DIPR Observes Drivers’ Day 2026, Honours Contribution of Government Drivers

Imphal, June 11: Recognising the critical contribution of government drivers to public administration, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur, observed Drivers’ Day 2026 at the DIPR Auditorium, DIPR Complex, on Thursday.

The programme was attended by Director of Information and Public Relations Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh, along with Additional Directors Waikhom Phajatombi Devi and Tongbram Ramesh.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Charanjeet Singh said government drivers play a vital role in the functioning of departments by ensuring the safe and timely movement of officials. He remarked that while their work often remains behind the scenes, their contribution is fundamental to the successful execution of official duties and departmental programmes.

He noted that drivers are more than vehicle operators, describing them as key personnel who support government administration through their dedication and professionalism. Appreciating their service, he encouraged drivers to continue performing their responsibilities with sincerity and commitment.

Tongbram Ramesh highlighted that Drivers’ Day marks the establishment of the All India Government Drivers Federation (AIGDF) on June 11, 1994. He said the occasion is dedicated to recognising the hard work and service of government drivers, whose responsibilities include transporting officials for meetings, inspections, inaugurations and other official engagements.

He also acknowledged the drivers of the Directorate for their punctuality, discipline and consistent support to departmental activities.

Officers, staff members and drivers of the Directorate attended the observance.
