DISHA Committee Reviews Development Initiatives in Bishnupur

Emphasizing the need for regular monitoring and on-site inspections to enhance grassroots development, MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam chaired the District Level DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) Meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.

The meeting, organized by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Bishnupur, was attended by Thanga MLA T. Robindro, Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram, IAS, representatives from various Assembly Constituencies, elected members of local bodies, nominees of the DISHA committee, and District Level Officers (DLOs).

Officials from key departments, including Health, Education, Panchayati Raj, Housing and Urban Development, Women and Child Development, and Food and Public Distribution, presented updates on centrally sponsored schemes. Discussions focused on health, education, infrastructure, and livelihood development, ensuring effective implementation of these programs.

MLA T. Robindro actively participated in discussions, emphasizing the need for efficient implementation of welfare programs and ensuring that development initiatives reach every section of society.

Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram, IAS, provided insights on the district’s administrative efforts, particularly in managing 45 relief camps housing around 9,500 internally displaced persons. With improving law and order, the district is now prioritizing developmental schemes while addressing challenges such as movement restrictions and compensation for farmers unable to cultivate due to conflict.

MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam reiterated his commitment to transparency, accountability, and regular DISHA reviews, urging all stakeholders to work collectively towards the district’s progress.
