Jiribam, Dec 6 — The District Health Society, Jiribam, conducted a district-level convention for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) on Saturday at the District Hospital in Ningsingkhul. The event brought together frontline health workers and officials to discuss coordination and welfare measures.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar attended as chief guest, with Additional Deputy Commissioner Th. Manoranjan Singh serving as guest of honour. The convention was presided over by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vinay Prasad Sahu.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner called for stronger collaboration between ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers to improve service delivery at the grassroots level. He also urged the Health Department to convene a joint meeting with ASHAs, the Social Welfare Department, and bank representatives to brief them on welfare schemes such as the Atal Pension Scheme for workers in the unorganized sector.
As part of the programme, awards and certificates were presented to six ASHA workers—one from each Gram Panchayat—for outstanding performance. The Deputy Commissioner praised the efforts of health workers and encouraged them to continue their commitment toward strengthening community health.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Dr. N. Soroja Devi, SNO RBSK; Dr. N. Bembem, DMO; Dr. Justin Haobam, MO Medicine; N. Romen, DPM; and N. Raju Singh, District Data Manager.
