Kakching, February 18, 2026: Promoting scientific awareness and critical thinking among students, a District-Level Science Quiz Contest 2026 was organised at the Library and Information Centre, Kakching district, under the theme “Fostering Public Trust in Science.” The event saw participation from students of Classes IX to XII representing government, government-aided, and recognised schools under the Zonal Education Office, Kakching.
Emerging as winners were Mayengbam Aditya Singh of Class XI and Yengkhom Sebarson Singh of Class X from Kakching Higher Secondary School. The second position was secured by Saintcyna Yengkhom and Khumbongmayum Bivarani of Mary Immaculate Catholic School. Lanchenba Luwang and Lamjingba Salam of A.D.I. English School stood third in the competition.
The quiz contest was organised by the Zonal Education Office, Kakching under the Directorate of Education (S). Binodini Devi, DI of Schools, attended the function as Chief Guest, while Rakhesh Singh, Zonal Education Officer, chaired the programme. The contest was conducted by Joykumar Singh, Assistant Professor at Kakching Municipal College, who served as Quizmaster. Lokendro Singh, AI of School, ZEO Kakching, and Joykumar Singh participated as science experts during the event.
The initiative aimed to encourage scientific temperament and strengthen students’ engagement with science education at the district level.
