DMU Research Scholars Demand Release of Pending Fellowships

IMPHAL, September 7: Around 800 non-JRF research scholars of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) have been affected by delays in fellowship payments, prompting them to stage a protest in Imphal on Monday and call for government intervention.

Speaking during the protest, Dhanamanjuri University Students’ Union (DMUSU) president Irom Dimocha said research scholars from the 2022, 2024, and 2026 batches are facing difficulties due to the prolonged delay in disbursement of their fellowships.

The protesters demanded that the pending amounts be released without further delay, stressing that many scholars depend on the fellowship for their research-related and other financial needs.

They also appealed to members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to raise the matter on the last day of the ongoing Assembly session and press for timely clearance of the pending fellowships.

The scholars urged the government and concerned authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the issue and ensure that fellowship payments are released regularly in the future.
