Drug disposal campaign executes seizure worth Rs. 20.62 crore in Imphal

Imphal: Jan 24 : In a meticulously executed operation led by the Customs (Preventive) Division, Imphal, a significant drug disposal campaign was undertaken following the directive from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
The operation, which began on January 10, culminated in the destruction of narcotics valued at Rs. 20.62 crore.

The campaign saw the disposal of 41.45 kg of Amphetamine/Methamphetamine, 2,076 gms of Heroin Powder, and 175 gms of Brown Sugar.
These substances were incinerated at the Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility, Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Langol, Lamdeng, starting at 4 PM under the strict supervision of the High-Level Drug Disposal Committee, Customs Division, Imphal.

The committee, chaired by L. Prabhunanda Singh, Additional Commissioner of CGST Imphal, included members such as Rajivkumar Yengkhom, Deputy Commissioner of Customs Division, Imphal; Ganreipou from DRI Regional Unit, Imphal; N. Holichand Singh, Superintendent (Disposal); and H. Gautam Singh, Superintendent (Anti-Smuggling) from Customs Division, Imphal.

The disposal operation adhered rigorously to all relevant rules and regulations, ensuring the safe and complete destruction of the seized narcotics by 5 PM.
