FEB 19, 2026 (KANG/TBL): Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, from Ngahmun pre-fabricated houses in Kangpokpi district, attended the state-level interaction and released the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) on Thursday.
The event was led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand from the National Games Village relief camp in Imphal. In Thoubal district of Manipur, MLA Paonam Brojen and MLA Okram Surajkumar, along with the DC and ADM of the district, joined and released financial assistance to 965 IDPs through DBT to those sheltering in the district.
In Kangpokpi, the Dy CM also patiently heard challenges shared by the IDPs and assured that she would personally take up their concerns with the Union Home Minister during her upcoming meeting next week to ensure that their issues are addressed expeditiously. She also encouraged beneficiaries to begin construction of houses under the Special PMAY-G scheme and pledged to request enhanced funding support from the Centre in consultation with the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, IDPs from Ngahmun directly conveyed their grievances, including the need for examination centres, financial assistance, and other basic facilities, to the Chief Minister through video conferencing. The Chief Minister assured them that all genuine concerns would be examined and addressed with due priority.
During the programme in Kangpokpi, DC Mahesh Chaudhari briefed the Chief Minister on various schemes and initiatives undertaken by the district administration for the welfare of IDPs. He informed that the DBT released on the day marked the second instalment for families whose houses were burnt and who had already received the initial assistance of ₹25,000. He also highlighted that ₹12,100 is being provided per IDP family for monthly rations.
