EC Launches First-Ever Training for 1 Lakh BLOs to Strengthen Electoral Process

March 26, 2025: The Election Commission (EC) has launched a massive training program for over 1 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Vivek Joshi inaugurated the initiative, aiming to enhance electoral roll accuracy and voter registration processes.

The first batch includes 109 BLOs from Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam, along with EROs and DEOs from multiple states. The training focuses on electoral laws, IT applications, and verification procedures under the RP Act, 1950.

BLOs will also be trained as Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) to strengthen voter list management nationwide. The CEC emphasized that only Indian citizens above 18 years residing in their constituency can be registered as voters and warned of strict action against complaints regarding BLOs or EROs.

This initiative, starting with poll-bound states, aims to ensure a transparent and accurate electoral process.
