With the lessening frequency of violence in the conflict-torn state, Manipur’s former CM N. Biren Singh indicated the possibility of forming a popular government and stated that legislators from BJP and NPP are actively making efforts to facilitate its formation.
An interest has also been expressed to the concerned authority by the BJP legislature earlier, N. Biren Singh added while speaking to the media at the BJP office in Imphal on Saturday. Meanwhile, the state BJP President A. Sharda Devi has also called a meeting of all the BJP legislators at the party office tomorrow at 5 PM for an important discussion, which many speculated may be for a new political development.
Biren also said that during this suspended animation period, the state had witnessed relative peace over the past 7 to 8 months and expressed optimism for a swift and lasting solution. He also said that the people of Manipur are longing for permanent peace, and the Government of India, under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is working tirelessly toward that goal.
