In an early morning anti-Naxal operation today, eight Maoists were fatally engaged by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police in the Lugu Hills of Bokaro district in Jharkhand.
According to Jharkhand Director General of Police Anurag Gupta, among the deceased was Vivek, a prominent Maoist leader with a bounty of Rs. 1 crore on his head.
The gun battle ensued during a joint operation, resulting in the recovery of eight Maoist bodies from the encounter site. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or injuries among the security forces.
The intense exchange of fire concluded with the recovery of significant weaponry, including an AK-series rifle, one SLR, three INSAS rifles, a pistol, and eight country-made bharmaar rifles, as confirmed by the CRPF. Search operations in the area are currently underway to ensure complete security.
