Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Moreh observed Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, with essay and creative writing competitions as the main highlight of the opening programme. Students enthusiastically participated, showcasing their ideas and perspectives on the life, contributions, and legacy of the tribal freedom fighter.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by the school staff and students. Principal Henkholun Touthang, in his address, underscored the remarkable role of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in India’s freedom struggle and his enduring impact on tribal rights and empowerment. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from his courage, vision, and commitment to the upliftment of indigenous communities.
As part of the observation, the school will conduct a series of commemorative activities till November 15, 2025, to spread awareness about Birsa Munda’s contributions and celebrate tribal pride and heritage.
