Encroachers Given Deadline Till March 15 to Clear Public Land in Jiribam

The district administration in Jiribam has directed all unauthorized occupants and encroachers to remove structures built on public places and government land in the town area by 3 pm on March 15, warning of strict action for non-compliance.

An order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam District, Krishna Kumar, stated that the administration has observed several instances of unauthorized occupation and encroachment in the form of house extensions, shops, sheds, and other temporary or permanent structures along roadsides, public places, and state lands.

The order noted that such encroachments have caused inconvenience to the public, obstructed traffic movement, and created safety hazards and public nuisance for commuters in the town areas.

Invoking powers under Section 3 of the Manipur Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1978, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned encroachers across Jiribam district to remove the structures, items, and debris from town areas and public places within the stipulated deadline.

The administration further warned that failure to comply with the order would invite strict penal action under the relevant laws. In such cases, eviction, demolition, and removal of the structures will be carried out by the district administration with the assistance of the district police and other line departments without further notice.

The order also stated that the cost incurred for removing the structures and debris will be borne by the concerned encroachers.
