Entire Villages Wiped Out as Deadly Quake Strikes Eastern Afghanistan

Entire communities in eastern Afghanistan have been reduced to rubble after a powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck late Sunday night, killing hundreds and injuring thousands more. The worst devastation has been reported in Kunar Province, where whole villages have collapsed, burying families under the debris.

Local residents describe a scene of horror, with children, the elderly, and young people trapped beneath rubble, while desperate survivors dig with bare hands to find loved ones. Rescue teams face landslides and blocked mountain roads, making it nearly impossible to reach isolated districts.

Officials say the death toll continues to rise, with some estimates already surpassing 800 fatalities, while more than 1,500 people have been injured. Helicopters and aid convoys are being dispatched, but access remains severely limited.
