Feb 26, 2025: Inconsistent and erratic power supply in various parts of Thoubal district, Manipur, has created extreme inconveniences for the district residents. This challenge of not meeting power needs has persisted since June of the previous year.
The biggest hurdle in all of this, and the most impacted, are students currently appearing for Class X and XII examinations conducted by BoSEM and CoSEM. Due to the erratic supply, the most affected areas of the district remain in the dark with frequent load shedding, according to local information. However, with the installation of prepaid meters, people continue to pay for prepaid recharges.
Locals say complaints have also been made to department officials, along with MSPCL and MSPDCL, but no progress has been made so far. However, a year ago, there was an instance where MSPCL officials informed that there had been a technical issue with the underground cable passing through Thoubal Ching, affecting power transferred from the 400 KV mega power substation at Thoubal Khunou.
