Essay Contest on Manipur’s Political Status Announced for Oct 12 to Mark Irengbam Chaorel’s 68th Birth Anniversary

In connection with the upcoming 68th Birth Anniversary of noted thinker and social activist Irengbam Chaorel, the Irengbam Chaorel Memorial Trust today announced the launch of an Essay Competition for students.

The announcement was made by the Trust’s Secretary, Huidrom Sanjoy, during a press meet held at the Manipur Press Club.

Sanjoy informed that the competition, marking the 68th birth anniversary on October 12, will serve as a platform for young minds to explore and reflect upon “The Political Status of Manipur (1947–1949),” a theme aimed at encouraging a deeper understanding of Manipur’s political evolution and identity.

The essay contest will feature two categories — one for students from Classes 9 and 10, and another for those from Class 11 up to university level.

The event will be organized simultaneously at Standard Robert School and Catholic School, Canchipur.

Interested students may collect application forms from the Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) Office, with the last date for submission being October 10.

The Trust also appealed to students across the state to actively participate and use the opportunity to engage with the region’s historical and political discourse.

The competition marks the 2nd edition of the annual event initiated by the Trust in memory of Irengbam Chaorel, whose contributions to social and political thought continue to inspire the youth of Manipur.
