Essential Services & Shirui Lily Festival Exempted from 48-Hour Strike: COCOMI Student Wing

Amid the ongoing 48-hour general strike called by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), its student wing has issued a clarification, stating that essential services and activities related to the Shirui Lily Festival are exempted from the purview of the strike.

The clarification comes after confusion over the strike’s scope, especially as many essential services and festival-linked transport were reportedly halted or disrupted.

In a press briefing, the student wing affirmed that the general strike is not aimed at obstructing public welfare or cultural activities.

“We stand firm against actions that insult Manipur’s dignity, but we also respect the importance of essential services and the cultural significance of the Shirui Lily Festival,” they said.
