Eviction Drive and Joint Survey Announced for Thangal and Paona Bazar Areas

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, has announced that a joint survey will be carried out to assess encroachments, including aerial projections and expansions, over government land, drains, footpaths, and public spaces in the Thangal Bazar and Paona Bazar areas of Imphal.

The survey, scheduled to begin on August 6, 2025, from 7:00 am onwards, will be conducted by a team comprising officials from the District Administration, MAHUD, Imphal Municipal Corporation, the Chief Town Planner, and concerned line departments.

This move follows an earlier eviction drive on July 22, 2025, during which sand, stones, construction materials, temporary and permanent extensions, and debris were cleared from the Thangal Bazar main stretch. The decision to continue the exercise was taken during a meeting held on July 30, 2025, at Dharamsala, Thangal Bazar, as per the directives of MAHUD vide order No. 5/13/2025-DIR(MAHUD) dated July 25, 2025.

Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh has urged all landowners, residents, shopkeepers, tenants, and the general public in the affected areas to extend full cooperation during the joint survey and subsequent eviction measures.
