Expressing serious concern over the prolonged delay in conducting ADC elections in the state and the pending implementation of a pension scheme for the Ex-ADCs, a delegation of the Ex-ADC Members’ Forum of Manipur, led by Convenor R.S. Ngaranchui, met with the Additional Chief Secretary of Tribal Affairs and Hills Department, Manipur, Anurag Bajpai (TA & Hills), IFS, in Imphal, and also submitted a memorandum.
During the meeting, the delegates expressed that the absence of elected local bodies in the hill areas has significantly hindered development and weakened local governance. They noted that the lack of representation has left crucial issues unresolved, and they called on the Additional Chief Secretary to take immediate action for the restoration of democratic processes in the hill districts of Manipur.
Additional Chief Secretary of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Shri Anurag Bajpai, gave a very positive response to the issues raised by the delegation since the lapse of the latest term in November 2025. He informed the delegation that the file for extending pension benefits to ex-ADC Members is making great progress and will be rolled out very soon for implementation at the earliest.
