The Association of Physicians of India (API) Headquarters celebrated National Physician Day across the country yesterday, marking the occasion for the first time through an online national programme.
During the event, the API Headquarters felicitated 18 doctors from different parts of India in recognition of their lifelong service and committed professional contributions.
The programme was described as a moment of pride for the API Manipur State Chapter, as Prof. Thongam Bhimo Singh, former Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), was honoured as a “Physician” on the special day, acknowledging his significant contribution to the medical profession.
As part of the National Physician Day observance, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on the theme “Obesity Matters” was jointly organised by the API Manipur State Chapter and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur State Branch at the IMA Hall, Lamphelpat. The CME programme reportedly witnessed the participation of over 80 delegates, reflecting active engagement of the medical fraternity in addressing emerging public health challenges.
