Explosion Kills Six-Year-Old Boy, Injures Father Near Khoupum Dam in Noney

March 14, 2026 (IMP): An explosion at Taolingpung Village, Namkaolong Part-II, near Khoupum Dam under Khoupum Police Station in Noney district of Manipur killed a six-year-old boy and injured his father at around 8:30 this morning.

The deceased child has been identified as Kalaingamlou Pamei (6), while his injured father has been identified as Akul Pamei (40), son of Jaikhangjeipou Pamei from Taolingpung Village, Noney. Akul Pamei, whose legs were injured in the explosion, has been rushed to a local health care centre in the district, reports say.

Khoupum, located in the Noney district of Manipur, often referred to as a “hidden jewel” or “mini-paradise” in the hilly region, is situated about 81–90 km from the state capital Imphal on the old Cachar Road (Tongjel Maril).
