Jan 15, 2025: Fear and uncertainty loom larger in Kanchup Phayeng Ching area in Imphal West district, after the people of the area witnessed two separate bombing again on Tuesday (14 January) night.
According to villager, of Kangchup Phayeng Ching (in Langdeibung) 16-km away from the state capital, the explosion occurred at around 9:27 PM near Langdeibung Bridge, near a bunker of the 5 Manipur Rifles and the second one near a temporary camp of the 5 Manipur Rifles stationed in the area and suspected to have been carried out by Militant.
There is no report of injuries due to the blast. However, the villagers residing near the Kuki -dominant Kangpokpi district are now terrified and feared for the safety. And urge the government to take measures to prevent such incident in further.
According to Ajit, a villager, said that this is the first incident in the area, since after the last drone bombing on November 11, 2024. And highlighted the proximity of the blast, the first took approximately 20 feet from a 5 Manipur Rifles bunker, and the second exploded around 40 feet from the same bunker, just 20 feet from the temporary camp.
Mention may be made here that on 1st September 2024, three people were injured in a “bomb attack using drones” in Senjam Chirang Maning Leikai, in Manipur’s Imphal West district and the NIA has took the cognizance.
